I believe in a multi-faceted approach to alleviating poverty. Global poverty levels are on the rise. Almost a half of the world’s population is living on less than $2.50 a day and 80% lives on less than $10 a day. According to Unicef, 22,000 children by are killed poverty every day. Such appalling facts highlight the need to address poverty.
Accion works toward financial inclusion and access and has one of the largest microfinance, impact investing and financial literacy initiatives, which can help address and alleviate poverty. A client invested in Accion by providing its largest individual gift ever in 2015, in support of Accion’s work and in line with his legacy. Other clients have also supported Accion in line with their missions.
Access to health is a critical element of life across the globe. It is also a security phenomenon. Populations that are not healthy, where disease can ravage groups of people, actually creates political insecurity and political instability as we increasingly live in a highly globalized world.
